Taurus Insurance Services Ltd, the Gibraltar-based lifestyle insurance specialist, has announced the acquisition of Status Insurance Management Ltd, the insurance intermediary behind the Europesure brand, as part of its continued European expansion strategy.

With operations in the UK and Cyprus, Status brings established regulatory infrastructure, Lloyd's coverholder capabilities and longstanding relationships with international insurers. Its network of brokers, financial advisers, travel agents and affiliate partners provides Taurus with additional distribution channels and access to customers across European markets.

The acquisition builds on Taurus's existing European operations, following the opening of its European subsidiary, Switched On Insurance Cooperative U.A., in Eindhoven in September 2025 and the launch of Switched On Insurance in Ireland in February 2026.

Status's specialist insurance portfolio includes Europesure travel insurance for UK and European residents, corporate travel insurance, international private medical insurance and student insurance.

Taurus plans to build on these established products and partnerships, using its experience in gadget and travel insurance and its in-house technology infrastructure to develop new offerings and support further growth across Europe.

James Cottrell, Managing Director, Taurus Insurance Services, commented:

"This is an important step in our ambition to build a stronger, more diversified insurance business across Europe.

"We have made significant progress in establishing our European presence, and bringing Status into the Group allows us to accelerate those plans considerably. Rather than building everything from the ground up, we can draw on an established and respected business with deep market knowledge and relationships developed over many years.

"We see considerable potential in what we can achieve together, and we're looking forward to working with the Status team to realise those opportunities."

Paul O'Sullivan, Director, Status Insurance Management, added:

"Joining Taurus represents an exciting opportunity for Status and the next stage in the development of our business.

"We are proud of the relationships we have built with our insurers, partners and customers over the years. Taurus shares our commitment to specialist insurance and high standards of service, while bringing the resources, technology and investment to help us take the business further.

"We look forward to building on our success as part of the wider Taurus Group."

Status will continue to operate under its established brands, including Europesure, ensuring continuity for customers and distribution partners.
